Examination Results

Portland Place School are celebrating record A Level results in 2016. The A*-A pass rate of 38% was double the achievement compared to the previous year.  The A*-B pass rate was up to 66% compared to 48% in 2015.  The majority of students secured places at their chosen Universities.

At GCSE, we are very proud of our results with some exceptional performances by students, some of which achieved A*/A grades across all of their subjects. It is particularly pleasing that students have made excellent progress, balancing the demands of their academic studies with full participation in our outstanding extra-curricular programme of creative arts and sports.

We are very proud of our students’ academic achievements. Independent statistical evidence shows that we ‘add significant value,’ often 1 or 2 grades to those predicted by externally administered adaptive testing.  The 2015 Independent Schools Inspectorate reported, “the school successfully meets its aim of developing individual pupils’ potential.”

When asked, our students say that they feel their academic success at Portland Place is a result of their feeling comfortable and valued. There are small class sizes (average 15 in Years 7-11; average 6 in the Sixth Form), with an informal yet highly productive working relationship between students and teachers. This collaborative ethos instils a sense of self-belief in our students, which is undoubtedly the platform for their academic success.
